When you’re grieving you literally leave your mind. In my case to the point of questioning what is going on in other people’s minds. “Don’t you know Dom is dead? What the fuck is up with you??” It’s insane, but you start to think that no one else cares or even has any thoughts. Other Minds is a 20th Century philosophical debate that argues if you don’t know what other people are thinking, do they actually have any thoughts or do they even exist? Other minds can be traced back to Descartes, a 16th Century French philosopher, and was based on nothing more than skepticism. When you have lost a child, you are skeptical about everything, which drove me to try to understand why people didn’t feel like I did.
